“What is Hunter afraid of?” Mark Myles comments on Hunter’s debate dodging

Oklahoma City, OK —  Oklahoma Democratic nominee for Attorney General Mark Myles accepted an invitation for an attorney general debate organized by Women Lead Oklahoma, Freedom Oklahoma, and the Oklahoma City University Law School Public Interest Law Group. His opponent, Mike Hunter, responded to the invite stating that he had a “conflict” the evening of the scheduled debate. “I’ve said time and time again throughout this race that I’d welcome a debate between Hunter. What’s Hunter afraid of?” Myles asked. Myles is a working attorney and has worked full-time while campaigning around the entire state of Oklahoma to listen to the concerns of fellow citizens, especially to those who’ve been outrightly ignored by Hunter. ”What could be more important than answering questions from the public? It’s called being accountable to the public– that’s what being a public servant is. Dodging an hour long debate as important as this is a disgrace and a slap in the face to voters all over the state,” Myles commented.

The centerpiece of Myles’ campaign is transparency and accountability no matter the status or the office held: “No one is above the law and the attorney general must ensure that people are treated equally in the eyes of the law. That’s not what we have now. We have seen the current AG put the special interest over the public interest time and time again. Politics and profits over people must come to an end and that’s why I’m running for attorney general.”
